election
September 23rd, 2008i look forward to an election when instead of people saying “dude, did you hear he’s a muslim?” they say “dude, he’s a full-grown man and he still believes in god?!?”

today, i just surpassed the semi-arbitrary dividing line between novella and novel of 40,000 words. it’s nowhere near finished, and it’s still a very rough first draft, but i’m basking in the glow of this minor landmark.
wonder con, the gimpy, over-weight, basement-dwelling sibling of comic con (older brother, kind of an asshole) and a.p.e. (younger brother, dyes hair black, listens to bands that sound like pavement), was kind of disappointing. the best part, though, was getting drinks (i thought about just ending the sentence there) with some other bay area comics creators who are doing some really awesome work, so i want to plug them for a moment, even though i was suffering from a terrible headache, and they all probably think i’m some sort of doltish fanboy.
goeff vasile: geoffvasile.com - as s.e.b. puts it, he’s like a misanthropic adrian tomine
fredo noland: altgeek.net - reminds me of liquid television mayhem (did i just date myself?)
and:
joey sayers: jsayers.com - whose work i really think speaks for itself.
here are some one-pagers i drew for my girlfriend for her birthday. am i a loser for posting this at 9:55pm on a friday night? hey, i don’t judge you, okay? some of us just want to be well rested for wonder con in the morning, alright? (plus, i did mention that i have a girlfriend.)
this is the first post, and i wish it were more astounding that it’s probably going to be. i’ll add more entertaining content soon. i need to buy a scanner.
